DAN-DANIW II

POEMS OF LOVE AND LIFE: a compilation of poems by my students in Creative Writing and Translation classes academic year 2010-201

One Part of Heaven
Jef Yvonne Orallo

I am imprisoned by this tree
Wishing that my soul also be jailed
The fragile body, shouts defeat
Thoughts and dreams now hindered.

I was jailed in this violent pla\ce
Stone, iron, bullet with the fierce of the guard,
They are somewhere in this world
And were owned, as deas, even if alive.

All you could see from this little window,.
Is the part of heaven full of tears,
Selfish heart with a wound,
Symbol of my wariness.

Their eyes are as sharp as the lightning,
The door with keys, no one seemed to draw near,
The shout of the orisoner from the nearest cell,
Just like the howl
Of an animal echoing from a cave.

The whole of the day is like a chain,
Pulled by feet so bloody
Ythe wholeness of night is like a blanket of grief
the prisoner’s coffin.

Sometimes there is a sound of footsteps,
The sound of the chains you could hear,
Under the pale of sun-dried
There a thousand shadows brought out in the dark.

Sometimes the night is surprised,
A signal- Someone escaped!- then the sound of the bullet
Sometimes the old large, big bell cries,
From the cell, someone is dying.

And this is my world today
A prison-like, cemetery of the living
Ten, twenty, and all year long,
Of my life, I will stay here.

But this soul of mine is not tire, and fearless,
And my heart still flows like a stream
This prison cell is a part of my struggle,
Being imprisoned is not a sign of giving up.
Man and God does not sleep,
And not everyday that one os a slave,
Every imprisonment, there is judgment,
Until there is Bastille, there is a reason for vengeance.

And tomorrow, there will I see,
One part of heaven, with no tears,
The golden rays of sun will shine with glory,
Free I’ll be to welcome my freedom.

 No Hope
Popoy Rabara

My eyes won’t stop crying
I feel lost with no way out,
I scream for escape,
No one would help me-

Reminding the happiness you left with me
Is just a memory tha I can’t set free,
It stabs me until there is no more blood to bleed,
Because you left me just like an empty shell.

No hope!

The day tyou said goodbye,
My heart won’t erase
Mournful voice in my life
Because of the pain you brought inside.

No hope!

I won’t be fine anymore,
‘cause I will say forevermore,
Can’t find someone to save me
Feeling sick, can’t be healed.

No hope!

Oh please! I’m calling you!
Living dead without you
Love has vanished
There is no hope without you!

No hope!
You!

TRANSLATION OF THE SONG PARAISONG PARISUKAT and SALAMIN NG BUHAY by Basil Valdez

Four-sided Paradise
Vanessa B. Manangan

Your are here, lamenting
On a little paradise of yours,
Take a look on your surroundings
Of molds and cobwebs.

I am here, pleading
To hear my
Thousand and one paradise
That I am offering to you.

Let us go to the open
And welcome the breaking of the dawn
You can feel the burst of light
And touch the rainbow
You are always loved my dear

I pray you soon leave
Your four-sided paradise
A thousand and one paradise
I am offering to you.

I pray you soon leave.
Your four-sided paradise
A thousand and one paradise.
I am offering to you as long as I live
I offer my paradise only for you, my dear.

Paraiso ng Kwadrado
Vanessa B. Manangan

Adattoy ka, agladladingit
Dita paraisom a bassit
Kitaem ta aglawlaw
Bubuoten, agagiwen.

Adattoy ak, agasasug
Denggem ti panagayayok,
Ribo ket maysa a paraiso,
Iti idiayak kenka.

Apan ta ijay acaba nga gagangay
Ta sabten ta iti parbangon
Mariknam ti aggil-yab a silaw
Maigganaman ti bullalayaw ken sinamar
Ayayaten daka pinanayun, biag ko.

Kararag ko ket panawam
Dayta paraisom a kwadrado
Ribo ket maysa a paraiso
Iti idiayak kenka.

Kararag ko ket panawam
Dayta paraison a kwadrado
Ribo ket maysa a paraiso,
Iti idiayak kenka, tungpal biag
Paraiso nga idiayak kenka
Kenka laeng biag ko.

Mirror of Life
Vabnessa B. Manangan

Along with the movement of the world
That leads to forever
Comes in different ways
Of life to everyone.

Your destiny is yours alone,
And his is only his
The mirror of your life
Has a different light at hand.

Your life is within chapters
There came happy times,
Sometimes, eyes get swollen,
Because of too much crying.

Though you’re on the right path
There is one who lets you down,
Sometimes, though you have stopped
Blessings are promised.

Your image on the mirror,
They have sometimng to remember,
Think of it and find out
If you got lost on your way.

Before it vanishes forever
The visions on the mirror
Are you certain of it
Your face was noticed?

Because of the carving made by devotion and reality
At once, you never turned bad,
On the mirror of your life
Before it vanishes forever,

Sarming ti Biag
Vanessa B. Manangan

Kas ti panagtayyek ti lubong
Iturong ti agnanayaon
Nadumaduma a pamuspusan
Iti panagbiag ti tao.

Iti gasat mo ket kanyam laeng
Iti gasat na ket kanyan
Iti sarming ti biyag mo
Carcarna a silaw ti kargana.

Iti biag mo ket adda a paset
Adda panawen iti ragsak
Adda met ti panawen ti pangladladingit
Iti mata nga nabannog ti panagsangsangit.

Uray kasatno kasayaat ti panagpagnam
Adda tao mangpatid ta sakam
Uray nakasardeng kan to pay
Bendicion ket panagdaydayaw.

Ta langam dita sarming
Adda pakalaglagipan da.
Agpanunot ka ken birukem
No nagpukaw ka ijay dalan.

Sakbay kuma a mapukaw
Ta sirmatamn dita sarming
Malawagan ngata
Ta rupam ket naimatangan
Dita naiukit gapo ti pudno ken panagayat
Awan naminsan a nagdakes ka
Dita sarming ti biag mo.

Awan ti tao nga kinaapam,
Dita sarming ti biag mo.
